Frequently Asked Questions

How does the image enhancer work?
Our image enhancer uses the browser's Canvas API to apply adjustments like brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, blur, and grayscale directly to your image. All processing happens locally in your browser — no data is sent to any server.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device, ensuring complete privacy.
What file formats are supported?
You can upload any common image format including JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP. For download, you can choose between PNG (lossless), JPG, or WebP output.
What does the sharpness slider do?
The sharpness slider applies an unsharp mask effect that enhances edge contrast, making your image appear crisper and more detailed. It works well for slightly blurry or soft photos.
What is the difference between brightness and contrast?
Brightness shifts all pixel values up or down, making the entire image lighter or darker. Contrast adjusts the difference between light and dark areas — higher contrast makes darks darker and lights lighter.
Can I apply multiple adjustments at once?
Yes! You can combine any or all adjustments simultaneously. For example, you can increase brightness, boost saturation, and add sharpness all at the same time. Use "Reset All" to return to the original.
Will the enhanced image lose quality?
If you download as PNG, there is no quality loss — it's a lossless format. JPG and WebP use lossy compression, but you can control the quality level (default 92%) to minimize any visible difference.
How do I make an old photo look better?
Try increasing brightness slightly (+10 to +20), boosting contrast (+15 to +25), adding saturation (+10 to +20), and applying some sharpness (20 to 40). These adjustments can significantly improve faded or dull-looking photos.
